Why project cargo needs engineering, not just booking
A transformer, turbine or production line is rarely a single container. Dimensions, weight, centre of gravity, lifting points and bridge or road clearances decide how it can move, long before a vessel or truck is booked.
Wideair begins with the cargo’s drawings and specifications and builds a transport plan around them, coordinating the specialist partners who provide cranes, trailers, vessels and permits. We act as the single point of contact for the whole movement.
What we coordinate
- Breakbulk, RO-RO, flat-rack and open-top movements by sea
- Over-dimensional and heavy road transport, including route review and movement permissions
- Lifting, loading, lashing and securing plans with specialist partners
- Port handling, storage and stuffing for non-standard cargo
- Customs and documentation for industrial equipment and project consignments
- Delivery to site, including inland multimodal legs
Information that makes planning possible
| Detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Dimensions and weight (packed) | Determines vessel, trailer and lifting equipment |
| Centre of gravity and lifting points | Needed for lashing, lifting and stability plans |
| Origin and site addresses | Defines the route and access constraints |
| Delivery window and site conditions | Sets sequencing, permits and handover arrangements |
| Drawings and packing lists | Allow a realistic, safe transport plan |
How a project movement is run

- PlanRoute, equipment, permits and schedule.
- MoveLoading, transport and port handling.
- HandoverDelivery to site and close-out documentation.

Frequently asked questions
What is ODC cargo?
ODC stands for over-dimensional cargo: goods whose size or weight exceeds standard limits for containers, trailers or aircraft and which therefore need special equipment, route approval or both.
Do you own cranes and heavy-lift trailers?
Wideair coordinates the movement with specialist lifting and transport partners. We plan and manage the whole project rather than operating the equipment ourselves.
Can project cargo move by air?
Some heavy or outsized items can move on cargo aircraft, depending on the aircraft type, dimensions and weight. For most large industrial equipment, sea and road are more practical.
